The deep, dark, opaque purple color, edged with crimson, is a genuine foreshadowing of what's to come. This wine is glass-filling with color, flavor, and aroma: a classic, deep, deep Cab that you will definitely linger over: sweet, appealing scents of blueberry, blackberry, black currant and cherry; blueberry syrup, blackberry concentrate, dried cherry and brambly fruit intermingle with a bouquet of leather, cedar, cigar box, pencil shavings, cured meats, grilled artichoke, roasted hazelnuts, vanilla, coconut, tea, tar, and bay leaf. The complex bouquet invites multiple re-visits. On the palate, this is a full-bodied wine with well-integrated, very fine tannins, nicely "chewy" with great acidity and a long finish. The wine is delicious and expressive of its unique sense of place (if you've visited Birch Creek Vineyard); and has mouth-filling flavors of red currant, black currant, mixed blueberry and blackberry, succulent ripe cherry, and mixed herb blossom (lavender and herbs de Provence). The flavor is primarily fruit-driven. The secondary Cabernet Sauvignon flavors and the oak aromas support the concentrated fruit flavors through a long, complex finish. A true cab-lover's wine
